Rose Milkshake

This milkshake is officially my new favorite dessert. It's not so much of a recipe that I am leaving here, but more of a recommendation. As in, I recommend that you go make you one of these right now. I posted this photo on my instagram awhile ago, but I forgot to post it on here until today. It is so super easy, and if you have ever made a milkshake before it should be about the same thing. You will need: Vanilla ice cream, Milk, Rose Syrup ,Blender Optional: whipped cream and sprinkles How to: Put the ice cream, milk, and rose syrup in a blender. For about one person I used 3 scoops of ice cream, about half a cup of milk, and a tablespoon of rose syrup. I included a link to buy the rose syrup that I used online, but if you have a specialty grocery store they should have it as well. I got mine at Jungle Jims in Ohio. After you blend them all together, transfer to a fancy glass and add the whipped cream and sprinkles. Top it all off with a straw and you are ready to enjoy. I would love to try this with homemade ice cream and whipped cream, if anyone tries that I would love to hear about it! Let me know what you think! Enjoy!

Lighthouse Explorations

While we were staying near Lake Erie, there were plenty of lighthouses that you could see. I think that most of them were just minor, but one, the Toledo Harbor Lighthouse, was huge and one of my favorite lighthouses I have seen. It is no secret that I love lighthouses, and Lake Erie has so many. There are plenty of maps if you are interested in exploring any of them. There is also a boat cruise which I was dying to take, but it stormed at least once every day, and with the winds I didn't want to risk it. I would love to go back and actually get to see this lighthouse, as well as another lighthouse that it takes you to, which is not open to the public.

Camping

This past month has been dotted with little mini trips...mostly camping, but others too. I have so much catching up to do! I have only been home between the trips for a few days at a time, and the time between has mostly been spent doing laundry and preparing the next trip. It has been so much fun! This first post is from our first camping trip, which was pretty local for us since it was only about 45 minutes away. I went with my family and my grandparents. I spent most of my time relaxing and enjoying the scenery. We rode bikes, hiked, and cooked some amazing meals. I also enjoyed watching the animals, we saw several different animals but the only ones I could photograph were the ducks. I won't bore you with what I wore, as it mostly consisted of shorts and tees. It was a great week.

Musings on Life and Being In My Twenties

Hello friends! I have been away for far too long. Life has been so crazy lately, but only in the best way. I am graduating from college one week from tomorrow - WHAT?!? - and it is been so crazy. I got a little distracted, worrying about where I am going and what I am going to do after I graduate. I've been thinking the past couple days that I need to enjoy these days for what they are. A job will come...when I am meant to have one. I've been sporting a mean case of twenties angst lately. I've decided that I need to keep my mind in the here and now, and just enjoy what I have going on right now. It's been a crazy couple of weeks, but they have also been so awesome. I can't wait to see where the next couple of months will take me.

Field Trip

Yesterday, I got to go to a local art museum for a class. It was such a great trip. We got to look at the textiles in the archives and then we got to explore the actual museum. There was something so great about going there on a weekday, as we were pretty much undisturbed as we looked around. Everything in the archives was so fascinating. I have to choose one item to research for class and I think that I am going to go with the crazy quilt, although everything was so fascinating. We also got to go into the art library they have, which I totally geeked out in. There is also a conservatory on site, which smelled just like spring.

The Times That Were

With it being my very last semester of college, I decided to take a few classes simply because they sounded interesting. This was a decision that definitely payed off. In one of my history classes we have been reading about some local history, in particular, about the theater where I took this photo. It was built in the early 1900's and was one of the theaters built by Keith and and Albee across the U.S., and it still holds all of it's charm. This reading has prompted some exploring of my own. I feel like I am really discovering places that I didn't even know existed. I just wish that it was actually warm so I could go out and go exploring. I can't wait until it warms up so I can head out. I am making one of my goals for the summer, and the coming year, to explore the city around me. I can't wait to see what I will discover.

The Blessing That Is Creative Friends

I've been thinking lately of how much more interesting your life is when you have creative friends. I love that I have things all around my room that my friends made me and I love our adventures together. I've been thinking about this for a while now, but tonight felt like a perfect example of that. I mean who else would spend a night eating pizza and pie (oh my word the pie!), talking indie films, and making terrariums with me. Tonight my friends Emily and Janessa came over and we got about to making terrariums. Emily is doing a project this year where she learns one new thing every week, and this week it was my turn to show her all things terrarium. There is a full DIY over at her blog if you are interested in the tutorial. I love having creative friends and I look forward to all of the adventures yet to come.
On an unrelated note...they both have blogs now and I could not be more thrilled that I am not the only one that takes copious amounts of photographs when we are out in public now. Two of these photos here I nabbed from Emily's blog and the other is from my Instagram. It features the finished results. Mine is the one on the far right.

Bicycles On Sunny Days

The weather today was so incredibly nice. I knew the moment I woke up that today was the day to break out my newest shoes. Technically, I have had them since Christmas, but the weather has been so gross that I hated to break them out. They also seemed to go perfectly with my bicycle print dress. I didn't have this outfit on for long, I only wore it to class, and then I came home and changed into some sweatpants for homework time...ew. I am loving this class though, it is a history of fashion and textiles class so we learn how to spin thread, weave, and that sort of thing. I am actually loving my classes so far this semester. I think that this may be due to the fact that I will be graduating at the end of it...YES!
