Lazy Sunday

I have officially indulged in way too many old movies today. I have had my own little movie marathon. I watched Charade and North By Northwest for the first time and then watched Breakfast at Tiffany's again. I can recommend every one of them. They are fantastic! Happy Sunday!!!

Pittsburgh

I spent this past weekend in Pittsburgh with my family. We went up to see a Pirates game for my brothers birthday and then did a bit of site seeing. I had so much fun! We went to the Pirates game and walked around the city exploring on Thursday. Then on Friday we went to the incline and walked around that area, then we headed to the historic strip district, which was quite a treat. The strip district is the area that used to be the factories and industrial hub of the city, now it is full of international markets, street vendors, and farmers markets. I picked up a few trinkets at the international markets. I had so much fun with my family....and really enjoyed Pittsburgh...even if it was only for the weekend.

Think Pink........Calamine Lotion

Yes calamine lotion! You see, for months, I have been bragging that I have never had poison ivy. A few days ago, what did I wake up with...poison ivy of course. Thus the complete lack of outfit pics....I refuse to subject you to my viewing my ailment. So while I am a bit under the weather(luckily, I also came down with a sinus infection), I decided to provide for your enjoyment a clip from one of my favorite movies...I just couldn't pass up the irony! Enjoy!!

You Are Ok

Advertising is based on one thing, happiness. And
you know what happiness is? Happiness is the smell
of a new car. It's freedom from fear. It's a billboard
on the side of a road that screams reassurance that
what you are doing is ok. You are ok.
-Don Draper

When on my last antique shop adventure I stumbled upon this magazine and couldn't be happier. Looking through it brings up all sorts of ideas of the past. When I flip through the pages all I can think of is scenes from Mad Men and ideas from the book The Feminine Mystique. It was so fascinating. The ads were fascinating and beautiful, but the fashion was absolutely amazing. I loved the dresses, the hats, and the umbrellas. It gave me so many great ideas for outfits. I loved looking through this magazine, and it was definitely worth the two dollars that I paid for it!

Lunch Date

I had a fairly simply day today! It was a relaxing day, filled with sleeping in and reading. However, I did venture out for a lunch date. It was a really good time and I quite enjoyed it!

I stuck to a fairly simple outfit today as well! I just threw on a pair or rolled shorts and a boyfriend tee. However, I did get to wear my new vintage brooch. While at a family picnic over the weekend, there just happened to be an estate sale across the street. It was destiny...well not quite destiny, but it was fantastic! They just wanted to get rid of everything, and so they were getting rid of things for nickles and dimes....literally! We walked away with a but load of new pieces - to be debuted in the near future! I am having so much luck with antiquing lately...it is quite wonderful! I am quite happy with all of my purchases!

trouser shorts(rolled)- Dressbarn
boyfriend tee - Old Navy
flip flops - Old Navy
Necklace-American Eagle
Brooch- Vintage....10 cents!!!

Now that I have officially eaten my weight in pasta salad and watergate salad...I thought that I would take a moment to drop by and post. It has been a super busy weekend with picnics, family reunions, and lots of fireworks....but it's been great! I just loved sitting around making homemade ice cream and watching movies on the side of my grandparents barn! It was an amazing weekend filled with great food and fun! O and of course I wore red, white, and blue!
