Inspiration Monday

Happy Monday Everyone! It's nice getting back here again. I have been sick all week and have been unable to do anything but sleep and watch documentaries...it's an exciting life I live, I know. I am still feeling a bit under the weather, but it is a much needed improvement from the past couple days, so I'm happy. Hopefully I can get back to my routine as soon as possible.

For today's inspiration Monday photo, I pulled from my inspiration folder on my computer again. It is from Color Me Katie . I think that this would be such a fun project. I'm up for any project that allows me to splatter paint. I definitely plan on trying this soon! I hope that this photo inspires you just as much as it inspires me! Happy Monday!

Inspiration Monday

Happy Monday! This is the second official installment of Inspiration Monday! I didn't think that I would have time to post today! But thankfully I did! I have found that I really enjoy looking up the photos for these posts. It really brightens my Monday when I get to either look for photos, or look though the inspiration folder I keep on my computer. This week it was the latter, which unfortunately means that I am quite unsure of where they came from. If anybody knows where they came from please let me know and I will edit accordingly. These photos really inspired me today, and I hope that you enjoy them too.

DIY Wednesday: Feather Hair Clip

The idea for today's DIY came from a tutorial on the blog Lulu Letty. You can find the tutorial here. It was a super easy project. I would also like to try the other feather headpiece as well. All you need is a feather headpiece (which can be purchased at most craft stores), an alligator clip, ribbon (I used black velvet), and your adhesive of choice(I used hot glue). Simply make a bow with your ribbon, next glue that ribbon onto the feather headpiece, then simply glue down the clip and your done. Now just slip it into your hair and go. It goes with a ton of outfits as well. As you can probably tell from the photo below, I went on a bit of a crafting spree the other night and made a ton of new jewelry and hairpieces using new found vintage components...it was fun, and I have been wearing them constantly.
Good luck and happy DIY'ing!

Inspiration Monday

This is the first official installment of Inspiration Monday. I am trying to come up with some sort of schedule around here, or atleast a semblance of one. It would help me to be more regular with my posting, and provide some stability.

[Oh, Hello Friend]

With that said, I have been inspired by so many things lately. I have been seeing all kinds of new mediums to work in and I can't wait to try all these new things. It is great to actually feel excited about doing all this work, my brain is just buzzing with excitement and ideas. I can't wait to get working on all kinds of new things. I hope that these photos inspire you just as much as they have inspired me!

Sunday Morning Florals

Today I decided that it was about time to slip some florals back into my wardrobe. It finally warmed up a bit this morning, and I could not think of a more opportune time to do so. I love florals, and realized today that I have missed them dearly!

I haven't done much today, it's been a lazy Sunday. Yesterday I went thrifting and picked up a few things, though I am thinking of going back for a few things that have been on my mind since I left. I picked up a new blouse and a new purse, and some books, as well as some great supplies for the shop..including stuff for a new necklace that I am incredibly excited to make. I got all of this for about seven dollars, so I was quite pleased with myself.

I bought this dress with a gift card that I got for Christmas. I am also wearing a necklace that will be up in the shop in a few days, I wanted to borrow it first! Well that's all for today, I am now off to do a little bit of reading of the books I got yesterday.

Dress: Old Navy
Shoes: Wanted
Necklace- DIY
Tights- Merona
Coat- Old Navy

P.S...I would officially like to welcome a dear friend to the blogosphere...Welcome Fox & Forest! Head on over and check it out!

STOMP

Today I went to see STOMP. It was awesome. I was able to see it as a part of my university's artists series. Above is a picture of the program. Me and my friends were very lucky to be able to get seats center front only four rows back. After the show we went to grab a bite to eat. By that time it was dark and the temperature was quickly dropping, which means no outfit photos. I did end up getting to wear the dress that I mentioned in Monday's post. It was actually quite warm. I read online that it is warmer to wear two pairs of tights as opposed to jeans, and after today I have found that statement to be pretty accurate. Doubling on the tights was definitely as warm, if not warmer that wearing jeans, I will definitely be trying this out more often.

Back To Class

Today was the first day of the semester for me. I really enjoyed all of my classes that I have had thus far. I am really looking forward to my visual merchandising class, which I had this morning. I really enjoy the first day of classes, but what I enjoy more is picking out new notebooks and stationary and then picking out y outfit for the first day of school.
I had a checked shirtdress and tights picked out to wear this morning. However, yesterday a snowstorm came thorough our area, and the dress was just not going to work, since I have to walk quite a ways to one of my classes. I ended up just wearing jeans and a cardigan, as well as my new cowl neck scarf and my favorite new accessory from Madewell. It all ended up working out though, as I am going to see an artists series performance later this week and am hoping to wear the dress then. Hopefully I have time to take some pictures of it when I wear it next. All in all I think that this is going to be a great semester, and I am really looking forward to it!

Pile in the car and head out for some fun....

So as you may have noticed, I have been not been holding to my new years resolution of blogging more often. However, I have not really had a chance to even log on. Since we all started school this coming Monday, me and some friends decided to take a couple of roadtrips. First we went on the shopping trip to Columbus, which was just incredible. I got to visit alot of the stores that we do not have locally, which was a real treat. I only bought a few things however, including a few hair lovelies and a bracelet at Forever 21, a mug a Anthrolpologie, and my favorite, a brooch at Madewell. We had alot of fun.

We also took a trip about an hour away to see a concert, which is where the first picture is from. Which, although it is blury, I thought turned out really cool. The second picture is from my shopping trip. I had alot of fun on both trips. I also did a few smaller events including a spa party and going to paint pottery, and have been busy with getting everything ready for school.

It has been a great week, and I am ready to start back to classes tomorrow. Hopefully with a more solid schedule I have have more time to catch up on reading your posts and writing my own more regularly.

New Business Cards

This is the official unveiling of my new business cards. My dear mom had me a personalized stamp made for Christmas and I love it. I am absolutely thrilled with my new cards. In the future, I may end up adding some flowers or such as a background, but for now I absolutely love these! I can't wait to start handing them out!

In other news, I am going to be revamping and restocking my shop as soon as possible. It has been empty for a while, since I had mostly been focusing on craft shows and the like. Keep checking back though, because it will be restocked soon!

Today has been such a lazy day, I have been catching on my blog reading. I have missed so much over the holidays! Honestly, I am still sitting around in pj's with my hair undone! However, tomorrow me and some friends are taking a roadtrip for some serious shopping before the semester starts up next week. We are renting a van and riding up together. I am so incredibly excited!

Happy New Year!

Happy 2011 everyone! I hope that you all had a great New Years Eve! I went bowling with my family and some friends and had a great time. I bowled a strike at midnight...and personally thought that it was an epic way to ring in the new year. As far as resolutions go, I have decided that they are not really my thing, seeing as how most of my 'resolutions' are actually a list of things that I want to do and accomplish in the new year. I do however have a few resolutions:
- blog more regularly, maybe even every day...and hey I'm already off to a great start!
- Read at least one book every month...which should be easier with my new kindle in hand.
- Sew more, make more
- remodel my shop and fill it again...it's been empty for awhile now
- drink more water...less soda

I can't wait to get started on all of my resolutions and plans for the new year! I have some great things already in store for my shop and the blog. Happy New Year!!!
