Tiered Cake Stand DIY

So I am sure that you have seen hundreds of DIY cake stands online by now, they are all over pinterest and other sites. However, I just thought that I would share a quick photo with you of my recent attempt at the project. This project all around cost me about three dollars and was one of the simplest DIY's that I have ever done. For this project all you need are some dishes, I got mine at the dollar store, but some from the flea market/Goodwill/etc. would be great for this project too. You will need at least three, but I am sure that you could use more. I picked up two glass plates of differing sizes, and one wine glass. You will also need some glue or something else to hold them together. Simply arrange the dishes however you want them, add glue, and allow it to dry. (note: make sure glue is away from food and also remember to wash the dishes before using the glue) Finally arrange you delicious treats on the stand and enjoy. This DIY could not be easier, and the end result looks fantastic! There are also many variations on this project that I have seen online, so if you want a variety of tiered stands for like a party, you should definitely look into those! This is a great project that yields fantastic results!

Downtown Meandering

Last night some friends and I decided to head downtown for an art walk. We started off our evening with some frozen yogurt. I had red velvet, which was delicious! Then we walked around looking at all of the amazing art and artisans that were set up all over town. I met some great people and had a lot of fun. I even got to purchase an item or two as we walked about. I always feel so inspired after looking at the beautiful work of the people who live in the area.
I decided that for the evening I would leave the heels that I had on for my party yesterday at home, and decided to go with the more practical sandals. I wore them with a dress that I purchased for the party as well, and topped off the outfit with a necklace that I made.

Garden Party

This morning I hosted a garden party at my house. I had such a great time catching up with friends and eating great food. I made a variety of foods and teas and punches. The food was all amazing and I can't wait to make these recipes again. My favorites were the almond pound cake and the hibiscus tea punch. Most of the decorations I already had in my room, most of them I have accumulated from estate sales and flea markets. I did buy the sheet moss and the flowers for the table. I also bought the supplies to make my cake stand. I loved getting everything ready and decorating. It was so much fun. It was a great morning with friends. This evening I went on an art walk downtown, which was so much fun as well, but I will share more on that later.

Leather Skirts and Last Minute DIY's

It's always a bummer when none of your pictures turn out. This is one of the only photos that turned out of my outfit yesterday. I have been wearing this skirt so much lately though that some of the others are bound to turn out. I am absolutely in love with this skirt. When I made it I wanted it to have more of an a-line shape though, so I may end up adjusting it a bit more. I am obsessed with the bow I made as well. Now that I know how to make them I can't wait to make them in about every color/fabric I can think of. The majority of this outfit is handmade or vintage. The necklace was very last minute: when I was walking to the restaurant my necklace broke, so I quickly tied the chain into a bow-super easy DIY! skirt-Handmade Shirt-Hanes T-shirt Shoes-Shoe Department Necklace-Handmade Bracelets - vintage, vintage, and handmade Ring-gumball machine Bow-Handmade

My Own Little World: DIY Terrarium

I think that I may have a small terrarium obsession. I have made so many lately, however, this may be my new favorite. I recently saw one of those freebies at the craft store, one of those idea books, about using doll house furniture to create a mini-campground inside a jar. They were adorable, so I decided that I needed a miniature park for my coffee table. They have so many cute miniatures at the craft stores that you could come up with so many different ideas. All you need is a glass container, some fake (or real) moss, and the doll house furniture/ miniatures of your choosing. I plan on making so many more. They are just ridiculously cute.
ps...Send me pics of anything that you guys come up with! I would love to see them!
