Old Central City

Today I ventured down into old central city for a little bit of antique hunting. I went out today to help find my cousin a hat for a play that she is in....1930's! However, I did end up with a couple of great finds!! I got multiple handkerchiefs for the store, a brooch, and my favorite...a vintage fascinator! I will debuting these in the next couple of weeks. I just loved looking at all of the books and photos...as well as all of the clothes! I had so much fun and I really enjoyed it! I especially enjoyed the stories that the owners of the stores had to tell, about the history of some of the pieces....it was so fascinating!

As far as my outfit goes, it is pretty basic. I feel that I don't really need to dress up if I'm just shopping and sorting through bins anyways...so I go with a very basic outfit when I am shopping! However, I did wear a new bow headband that I made! I was accused of looking like Rosie the Riveter...but do I mind this comparison....absolutely not!

In other news....I made cupcakes!!! These are Root Beer Float Cupcakes and I got the recipe over at Smitten Kitchen! Here is the link: http://bit.ly/dwPvCa

Hope that everyone is having a great weekend!!!

Old Southern Elegance

Well here I am again! Two posts in one day...this is truly astounding!! As I was discussing earlier...I went to Stone Mountain in Atlanta, Georgia, and while there I got to tour an old southern plantation. It was really cool seeing the old buildings and all of the clothing and things that they had. It really provides a fascinating glimpse into pre-civil war history. The rooms and the grounds were so beautiful! Needless to say I took tons of pictures!

Roadtrips

I have been a very busy girl lately! Last weekend...I went to Columbus on a shopping trip with two of my friends. Then on Tuesday, I left for a family vacation to Atlanta, GA. I took my laptop...with hopes of posting throughout my trips, but alas...my computer would not connect to the internet. It has truly been a great week...but I am glad to be home! I have so much to share and so many photos to upload...so I am going to be sharing that with you the next couple of days....with some outfit posts sprinkled within! I hope that enjoy my photos...I had fun taking them!

One of the first things that I did was visit Stone Mountain! If any of you have been there....then you can vouch for me that this place is absolutely beautiful! I was honestly not expecting it to be such an experience...there were so many different things to do there. We got to walk around the grounds, ride an old train, rode a swiss cable car to the top of the mountain, and then we got to tour an old southern plantation. It was so amazing! I loved the view from the top of the mountain and I also especially enjoyed seeing the plantation houses.

The outfit that I wore was not amazing, because I was trying to be practical for all of the walking that I was going to be doing. However, I did get to wear my newest DIY project...which was my shirt with the lace collar. I saw a vintage top online, and since it was not in my size, I decided to make one myself, with a few minor diferences. I chose to use a t-shirt instead of a sweater. I wore it with denim shorts, a vintage brooch, and a hat. It was so amazingly comfortable for a day of exploring! I had a truly amazing time!

I realized about halfway through this post that I am going to have to do a separate post about the plantation. So for the first time ever you are going to get two blog posts in one day! So enjoy the pictures of stone mountain, and I'll talk to you again soon!!! Have a great day!

P.S. Happy first day of summer!!!

Four-Eyes?

Lately, I have been considering a new pair of glasses. I have had the pair that I currently have since high school and I am about ready for a change. I have been looking for frames for a while now, but recently I found out that I could buy myself some vintage frames and have those filled with my prescription. Needless to say I was thrilled! I have been looking around and I am very excited about this. Hopefully you will soon see me in a new, or atleast new to me, vintage frames!

Since I am already on the topic of eye wear, I thought that I would discuss something that has recently been on my mind. Recently, I was discussing with someone how in recent years, glasses have gone from a unwanted necessity...to an accessory. When I had to get my first pair of glasses, most people that I spoke to considered them a bad thing. I for one have always loved my glasses, but the majority has not always felt this way...till now. I know multiple individuals who have gone out to buy glasses to wear as an accessory. The public opinion of eye wear has really changed over the years. No matter what, I will always love my glasses and I don't think that my face would be the same without them. How do you feel about this, or for any fellow glasses wearers...how do you feel about you glasses?
