I Woke Up In The City That Doesn't Sleep

This past weekend I took the train up to New York to visit a friend. I had so much fun and it was great to see so many of the different sights. I have always wanted to take a trip on a train, so on Wednesday, I got on the train and was on my way. I spent most of the day on the train. On Thursday, we started sightseeing. We began our day with Bryant Park and the garment district. Next we headed to Grand Central where we sought out the whisper room (which is awesome by the way). After that, we headed to the MET, for an afternoon of taking in art. I loved seeing the Schiaparelli and Prada collection. I also enjoyed seeing works from some of my favorite artists, seeing many in person for the first time. That evening we headed to Williamsburg for dinner and sightseeing. It was such a great day.

Beach Photos

This was one of the outfits that I wore at the beach. I am so behind on my photos since I never got to post them when on vacation. I think that this is the last set from my vacation, we will see though. I wore this out for dinner and sightseeing one night. It is rare that I will wear a dress with such thin straps. Actually, this is probably the only one I own. However, since I was at the beach I made an exception, plus it was much too warm for the cardigan I packed. I paired the dress with some sandals, basic jewelry, and a sunhat. I did get to wear my new shell ring, which I am obsessed with.

Ocracoke Island

When we were on vacation on the Outer Banks we went to many small towns that were all amazing. One of the towns that we went to was Okracoke Island. We had to make it a day trip, since it was about an hour away from where we were staying. One of my favorite things was that our trip to the island started on a ferry. I had never been on a ferry before, and it was quite an adventure. Two of these photos are from a museum on on island. It was full of nautical treasures, including these vintage uniforms. After we went to the museum, we walked around the town and visited some quaint shops and restaurants. Then we went to the Okracoke lighthouse, which was such a treat. We finished out our day with dinner and dessert at a crepe food truck. I had a strawberry and nutella crepe which was just amazing, especially paired with the lavender soda. We then hopped back on the ferry to head home. Later that day we also stopped at another lighthouse. It was such a great day and I have so many great memories.

Seaside Exploration

One of my favorite things about going on vacation is getting to take tours and take in all of the new sights that a city has to offer. One of my favorite things about this vacation was getting to see so many different lighthouses. We climbed up the Cape Hatteras lighthouse, which is the one in the photo. We also got to see two other lighthouses in the area. There was also a museum on the property, which was awesome as well. I also loved the lighthouse gift shop.

A Photo An Hour

When we left for our vacation, I was determined to at least try to finish a photo an hour post, in a sense I succeeded, although once we arrived I forgot to finish the day. We traveled to the Outer Banks, North Carolina. 4:00-5:00-Awake and out the door. 6:00-We are off. 7:00-Somewhere in West Virginia 8:00-Breakfast 10:00-A little bit of light reading. 11:00-Time for some doodling. 12:00-Looking for a place to lunch. 1:00-Time for my new coloring book. 2:00-3:00 - We've arrived, time to look for our house. 4:00- We've arrived! 5:00....Enjoy!
